Elizabeth & Michael
Elizabeth and Michael have been based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, since early 1995.
Elizabeth works in two schools providing training to Cambodian school teachers. An accelerated learning scheme at Sansam Kosal Primary School provides 6 grades of education in 3 years to pupils who've missed out on schooling. And the school in a relocated squatter community 10 miles from the capital provides literacy and numeracy lessons, again to children who have missed out on schooling. Elizabeth's responsibilities include teaching training, developing resources and programme planning.
Michael's endeavours have focussed on business initiatives that will help further the Kingdom of God in Cambodia. The primary business is thesaltedfish.com www.thesaltedfish.com.kh that provides website design, hosting and related services to businesses and organisations in Cambodia. The workplace makes for a good discipling environment and the challenges of running a business provide many opportunities to demonstrate how the Christian faith effects our actions.
A terracotta floor tiles manufacturing project in a village on the banks of the Mekong river employs 5 families. The tiles they make are exported and distributed through a company on the Isle of Wight, UK. www.bodj.co.uk The project has introduced the gospel to an un-churched village and provided a basis of relationship from which to start a number of small development or ministry initiatives.
